May
With brighter days and rising temperatures, May sits neatly between the year’s start and the vastness of summer. And you won’t always have to travel far to find something rare and unknown.
We’ve hand-picked the ideas below to get your mind racing about where to travel in May. As ever, our luxury travel experts are hand to give you detailed guidance and expert suggestions in choosing your trip.
Where to visit in May
With milder spring temperatures still at play, May is the best time to meander through Morocco. Stay within Marrakech, paired with stops in the Agafay Desert and Atlas Mountains. Or take a recommendation from our Where to go in 2024 list and visit the bustling hub of Tangier.
For an early taste of summer, we love visiting the Amalfi coast in May. Hop in a vintage car for a scenic drive from the cliffs of Positano to the black sand beaches of Sorrento. This is also one of the best times to explore the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum without the crowds and high temperatures.
There’s the pace of central London. The heart of things – between the pretty pastel mews of Notting Hill and busy bars of Soho. Always moving, ever changing. Then there’s the woodsmoke scent of the English countryside. Winding roads. Pints in cosy pubs. And May is the perfect time to visit.
We all go through times when the buzz of constant connectivity can become too much. Sometimes, we just need to shut it all out as we hit pause and escape to another world. The solution: a horseback ride through the mountain passes, wooded glades and flowering meadows of Gorkhi Terelj National Park.
