The most famed and colourful collection however, lies on the west bank of the Nile in the Valley of the Kings. Dating back over 3,000 years ago, the 63 burial chambers that reside here play homage to great Egyptian Kings, including that of the legendary Tutankhamun. We’d generally recommend avoiding June through August, when temperatures regularly exceed 100°F (38°C), though Cairo and the Red Sea coast stay popular year-round.
