Travel Expert

My career began in graphic design, where I produced marketing material for travel companies. More and more, I wondered why I wasn’t the one actually creating these incredible trips that I spent all day looking at. After three months spent working in Iceland, I made the jump into travel. That’s where my real journey began.

Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to explore almost every corner of the world. On a 1,500-mile drive across South Africa, kayaking through the tropical mangroves of Costa Rica, riding the clattering trams of Lisbon and meditating with the monks at Shedra in Bhutan.

As a Travel Expert, specializing in sub-saharan Africa and the Indian Subcontinent, it’s my job to give you the kind of experiences I have been very lucky to have had myself.

'The sky was pink and hazy, the air fragrant with incense'

A closer look at India

The month I spent with my dad in India is home to my most treasured experiences – the most remarkable being Varanasi. Watching from our rowing boat at sunrise, the river sparkled in the sunlight as hundreds of people gathered; conversing, praying and bathing in the holy Ganges. The sky was pink and hazy, the air fragrant with incense, spices and smoke from the smoldering funeral pyres, as young men blew into their conches, and bells rang aloud to celebrate a new day.

The perfect pairing

A closer look at Nepal and Bhutan

Another trip I took with my dad (and travel partner extraordinaire), Nepal and Bhutan are the perfect pairing. Mighty Himalayan peaks and fluttering prayer flags. The resonant hum of Buddhist chants as the scent of burning incense hangs in the air.

I still get goosebumps thinking about the moment I saw Everest for the very first time; out of the window, somewhere between Paro and Kathmandu. It was climbing season, and it was likely that as I was soaring past in a high-tech pressurised cabin at 30,000 feet, mere mortals were managing to summit just below at 29,032 feet. There was something so incredibly humbling about that.
