An adventure through Costa Rica

Arriving at Juan Santamaria International Airport, you’ll be met by your private driver. They’ll take you beyond San José to the high-altitude forests of Barva – and Bosque Vivo, a reforestation hub run by a father and daughter who transformed their milk farm into a foundation dedicated to protecting the forests they call home. You’ll spend your first day with them, learning about their fascinating work and immersing yourself in the forest. Then, we’ll take you to Finca Rosa Blanca, your breathtaking home for the night. Chocolate spa treatments, peaceful fruit orchards, and fresh coffee grown on site. You’ll instantly feel at home.

Leaving Finca Rosa Blanca behind, you’ll head to your next destination: the majestic Pacuare River. Learning the ropes, you’ll embark on a whitewater rafting adventure over Class II-III rapids. You’ll pull up in your raft at Pacuare Lodge, a mesmerising riverside (and rainforest) retreat – and your home for the next two nights. Rapids, ziplines, night walks, jungle hikes. Let the adventures begin.

Waking early, you’ll wave goodbye to Pacuare Lodge as you set off once more along the gushing waters of the Pacuare River, navigating class III and IV rapids, passing through steep canyons draped in waterfalls and lush rainforest. After a scenic lunch beside the river, you’ll hop on a quick 40-minute flight to Puerto Jimenez. Here, your private driver will take you to a remote corner of the Osa Peninsula – and to Lapa Rios lodge, your exquisite home for the next two nights, whose elegant bungalows are situated within a breathtaking 1000-acre private rainforest reserve.

Heading to the Pacific Ocean, you’ll hop aboard a private boat to explore Golfo Dulce, a mesmerising tropical fjord. After snorkelling in the tranquil waters, seeking dolphins and whales, and navigating mangrove swamps, you’ll savour lunch on a wild beach. Then, it’s time for a short 45-minute flight to La Fortuna, the gateway to Arenal Volcano National Park. Here, you’ll arrive at Nayara Tented Camp, where clifftop tented suites and their private infinity pools are encircled by rainforest and offer dazzling views of the park’s namesake volcano.

Led by your expert guide, you’ll venture deeper into the Arenal Volcano National Park, following a network of hanging bridges through the treetops. You’ll then hike towards the park’s towering volcano, sitting beside this natural wonder as you dine on a gourmet picnic. This evening, dinner will be at Doña Priscilla’s rural kitchen. In her family home, you’ll hear her stories and cook alongside her, preparing traditional Costa Rican dishes like tortillas and “patacones” (plantain patties).

Waving goodbye to Arenal, you’ll take a 30-minute flight to Santa Teresa, a relaxed beachfront town along the Nicoya Peninsula. Your private driver will take you to Nantipa Hotel, your home for the next three nights. You’ll spend the day and night settling in. Dining at the hotel’s open-kitchen restaurant on the beach, dipping your toes in bioluminescent waters, or indulging in yoga or sound therapy beside the glittering Pacific Ocean.

You’ll begin today’s adventures at Hacienda Aro, a family-owned cattle farm boasting 4700 acres spanning across fertile river valleys, mangrove forests, and pristine beaches. After exploring the farm and Caletas Ario, a research centre for sea turtles, you’ll saddle up alongside cowboys, riding out along wild, deserted beaches. As you walk, trot, or gallop between dunes and waves, you’ll take in the sun-soaked views of the dazzling Nicoya Peninsula.
