The USA
Snake River Sporting Club, Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Stretching across nearly 1,000 acres of protected Wyoming landscape, with the water carving its way through the land, and the Tetons rising beyond, is Snake River Sporting Club. This ranch-inspired hotel and members club is designed around one idea: immersion in the kind of nature that truly changes you. Activities are carefully curated to connect you to this specific corner of Wyoming, with fly fishing, snow shoeing, horseback rides, hikes, scenic float trips, and rafting, depending on when you visit. This is a place that will reset your sense of scale. Visit for the views, the wilderness, and the way of life.
LOCATION
It’s a 30-minute drive south from Jackson on a short but unforgettable road trip through lush valleys, with the ever-present Tetons on the horizon. You’re on the doorstep of Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole Mountain – although the vastness of the sporting club’s land (it takes 15 minutes to drive to the lodge) may prove to be enough to keep you on site. Landing at Jackson Hole airport? Enjoy the views: it’s the only airport in America to sit within the borders of a national park.
YOUR ROOM
With so much breathtaking scenery, you may not want to come inside. But when you do, you’ll be surrounded by contemporary yet cozy comfort. There are several sleeping options: Sylvan Lodge is the new, ultra-luxury hotel with light-flooded one- to four-bedroom suites and penthouses. They feel fresh, grown-up, and modern, with bespoke beds and couches from RH furnishings and minimalist fireplaces.
Or you may prefer the contemporary cabins, which are nestled within the wilderness of the club. They’re perfect for friends and families who want to feel even-closer to nature. Open-plan kitchen and living spaces, soaring 20-foot vaulted ceilings, hot tubs and patios with couches and outdoor fires, plus a six-seater golf buggy to whizz you around the site, are just some of the reasons we love them.
WHO IT SUITS
As tempting as it may be to sink into a couch and admire the view through a window, this is a place for people who want to get out, experience, and explore. Couples, solo travellers, and grown-up groups of friends will be happy here, retreating to one of the cozy bars for craft cocktails at the end of a day spent in the fresh air. But families will experience something special here too: kids will love the liberating feeling of running wild outdoors, stomping in puddles and throwing stones in the river, or taking part in the organized activities, including junior wrangler rides, naturalist kids camps, and adventure-focused days.
WHY WE LIKE IT
Whenever we visit Snake River Sporting Club we feel at peace. There are few places in America that can serve up such a wild and serene setting, without forgoing the luxury touches that a hard-earned holiday calls for. It’s a place for making memories – trying new activities like fly fishing or horseback riding, or sitting outside with a steaming hot coffee or hot chocolate, embracing the silence or listening to the chatter of your friends and family around you.
SUSTAINABILITY
Environmental responsibility is a fundamental principle here. There’s a focus on protecting the wild natural surroundings and respecting the wildlife of the Bridger-Teton National Forest with bald eagle protection programmes and annual fish stocking at Beaver pond.
