destination
Faru Faru River Lodge is truly one of the best lodges in Tanzania. Tucked away behind a small vegetated hill beside the western corridor of the legendary Serengeti, the lodge overlooks a natural waterhole teeming with African wildlife. The lodge is made up of six thatched suites, traditional use of bamboo, wood and local stone create an air of a classic safari camp. Faru Faru also boasts an airy dining room, lounge, bar, a shaded lawn.
location
The large viewing decks overlook the Grumeti River and its tree-line, a thriving natural habitat. Buffalo, elephant, topi (an East African antelope), and giraffe all come to drink as do predators, while black-and-white colobus monkeys scream and swing in the trees along the river. The Grumeti Reserves are located adjacent to the Western Corridor of the Serengeti, bordering the national park, and encompass 400,000 acres of unrivalled wilderness. The area forms part of the famous migratory route, which is travelled by hundreds of thousands of animals every year.
your room
The interiors are the ultimate in contemporary chic, decorated in a style dating back to the Colonial elegance of classic East Africa. Panoramic glass windows to the front allow for ultimate views of the waterhole, while mirrored room dividers, open air shower and Victorian-style claw-foot bath provide a touch of class.
why we like it
Choose to dine alone with your personal waiter in attendance and the songs of the Serengeti in the background or mingle with the other guests and swap fireside stories after a day’s game-viewing.
