Trekking Tasmania

After a quick stop in Melbourne on arrival, you’ll be transferred to Launceston Airport you’ll be met by your Tasmania guide who will transfer you to the greater Launceston area for your thrilling Ben Lomond Descent bike ride.  This guided mountain bike experience will explore some of the highlights of the greater Launceston area including the famous Descent itself.  The bike ride is mostly downhill (phew, that was indeed “mostly”) and our local guides will take you on one of the ultimate mountain bike descents possible in Tasmania with a total drop of 1,050 vertical metres. Starting in the alpine ski village at 1450m, this awesome trip takes you down the spectacular Jacobs Ladder road before connecting to old four wheel drive tracks through the eucalyptus forests or continuing on your bike if you’ve become quite attached. There is also a fantastic single-track section, part of the annual Ben Lomond Descent multi-sport race. You then continue on fire trails and other single tracks to your finishing point on the Blessington Road at 400m.

From here continue onto Hobart for a night of rest and relaxation before heading out on a stunning mini road trip that will take you to Freycinet National Park. Think astounding granite mountains, white sand beaches and azure waters. We’ll arrange for you to embark upon The Freycinet Peninsula Trek, which walks you through 30km of stunning scene after stunning scene, including a trip past The Hazards that loom over the electric clear waters. A rock mineral gives these theatrical granite boulders a hypnotising pink hue: yet another splash of colour to enjoy in this kaleidoscopic National Park. You’ll also find the spectacular Wineglass Bay nestled in amongst the beautiful coastline, a flawlessly sculpted azure bay with bright white sands that frame its notable curve.

Majestic Mountains

After a few days in Freycinet, it’s time to make your way to Cradle Mountain National Park.  A Tasmanian icon, the Mountain and surrounding national park are the perfect place for those wanting to get out into the open and explore the terrain. Our expert mountain guide will take you around the mirror-flat Dove Lake, through the mountain trails on horseback, or even up to the mountain peak itself – an eight hour trek well worth the effort (and officially one of the ‘100 things to do before you die’ in Australia). And when you’re weary from outdoor exploration? We’ll put you up in a luxury log cabin with your own private hot tub overlooking glacial rivers.

Rugged Coastlines

From natural to urban wonders, recover from your Tasmanian adventure with two nights in Melbourne. This European-esque city has a lot to offer, from beaches and street art to an eclectic cafe culture. It’s the Great Ocean Road, however, with its 151 glorious miles of rugged coastline, that we want to you discover during your time here. There’s no better way to witness the winding coastline and its remarkable rock formations than by taking to the skies on a private helicopter tour, which we’ll have arranged for you before you depart. As well as witnessing incredible views over The 12 apostles, there’s also a chance of seeing some wildlife from above, too. Southern Right Whales and even the enormous Blue Whale can be spotted off these shores, so you might just catch a glimpse of their astonishingly large silhouettes gliding through the ocean beneath you.

Flinders Ranges

For craggy sandstone bluffs and dry creeks lined with river gums, we’ll fly you over to the ancient Flinders Ranges in South Australia: an explosion of red in thousands of miles of mainland desert. Don your hiking boots and explore the highest mountain range in the district with our expert guides. It’s the perfect place for some stunning panoramic photographs that you’ll cherish forever. Next, we’ve arranged for you a private 4WD tour to get that adrenaline pumping. It’s a great way to get a true (and exciting) sense of the wildness of this region and you’re sure to spot some beautiful native wildlife as well as learn about the indigenous carvings that can be found deep inside caves and gorges. It’s an iconic place to end your trip of epic proportions, and you’ll go home educated and enamoured by the sheer beauty, history and vastness of this incredible country.
