Amy Wallace

Senior Retention Marketing Manager

Like many, I suspect, each time I return home my mind always beings ticking over about where’s next. I’ve never failed to answer that question. Bundling into an RV to explore the coastlines and parks of California, holding hands with an orangutan in Sumatra, and getting lost in Taiwan’s Alishan National Park. There’s always somewhere else.

With a background in marketing for financial services, I never dreamed I’d eventually get to work in the travel industry. But – thankfully – here we are. As part of our ever-thoughtful Client Relations team, I’m so fortunate that I get to share my love of travel with our existing clients, helping them to discover the world through inspiration decks, print campaigns, and a whole lot more. When I’m not doing this, you’ll find me delving into new reads for my book club, playing badminton or taking Spanish classes.

'the people you meet along the way'

A closer look at Uruguay

One of the most special things about travel is the people you meet along the way. Someone that sticks in my head is Lobo Nunez, an Afro-Uruguayan drums luthier and percussionist considered a “legend” within the Uruguayan candombe music scene. During my time in Uruguay, I visited his workshop. I was so privileged to meet him and learn about the roots of carnival in Uruguay, tracing all the way back to 1760. He was such a character, a huge talent and a fountain of historical knowledge. It’s encounters like this that stick in your mind forever and are impossible to replicate.
