step into a trendy home in the outback

It’s into the wilderness and to Kimberley, one of the most sparsely inhabited regions on earth. As soon as you touch down in Kununurra be prepared to fall head over heels in love with the El Questro Wilderness Park – over 1 million square km of rugged, untouched wilderness. The Homestead, your boutique retreat has just 6 rooms and offers a plethora of outdoor opportunities. For a truly unique experience take a helicopter flight over the beehive-like Bungle Bungle mountains. Spend a couple of days exploring the dramatic gorges whilst enjoying the lodge’s gourmet cuisine, served in locations of your choice. We reckon the perfect way to round off your outback encounter is by taking a private cruise on Lake Argyle, keeping a keen eye for the freshwater crocs patrolling the lake.

the gorges of the Gibb River Road and beyond

Next you will head for the coast and to Broome for a relaxing stay at the hip Cable Beach Club Resort on a pristine stretch of coastline amongst high pindan cliffs and powder white sands. Broome was originally founded as a pearling town with a diverse population that today is reflected in the eclectic markets and trendy restaurants of the town centre. Make sure to spend some time on the beach catching some rays, taking a sunset camel ride or swimming in the crystal clear waters of the warm Indian ocean. For that quintessential experience, we will take you on a scenic and exhilarating 4×4 drive to admire the famous Kimberley gorges along the Gibb River Road, a natural wonder that you will not quickly forget. Our tip: time your stay just right and witness the ‘staircase to the moon’ phenomenon with the full moon reflecting off the mudflats to create an optical illusion of a thin stairway reaching for the stars.

go cuckoo for Ningaloo

And so to the climax of your trip via a breath-taking flight to Leamouth and over the spectacular, yet little known, reef whilst perchance glimpsing humpback whales, manta rays, turtles and dolphins. The Ningaloo Reef reaches 20km offshore and stretches over 280 km long; truly an unknown jewel of WA’s natural heritage. Our pick of places to stay here is Sal Salis a luxury bush style camp where you relax in the most luxurious beach tents on offer. So what to do along these unexplored beaches you may ask? Spend your days snorkelling in the shimmering waters over the quiet reefs, admiring the huge number of tropical inhabitants (keep your eyes out for the infamous whale shark), kayaking, swimming with mantas and star gazing from the veranda of your tent (just to get you started). The scenery both above and below the ocean is sure to be on your mind for weeks to come.
Relaxed and totally at one with nature, return to Perth for a final night of pampering back at The Richardson before your flight home.
