Location

Casa Oropéndola is perched on a lush mountainside in the heart of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, nestled between dense rainforest and aromatic coffee plantations. The drive from the closest town of Santa Marta is a little over one hour, while the drive from Cartagena is roughly five hours. For those who want to marvel at this remote location from a different vantage point, private helicopter transfer is also available.

Your Room

Built in harmony with its environment, Casa Oropéndola is equal parts rustic and chic.  All four suites have epic views of the surrounding jungle, large and comfortable bedding, and touches of colourful and vibrant Colombian décor.  The main living area boasts a grand fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a vast terrace. The simplicity of the lodge contributes to the sublime ambience of peace and tranquillity.

Why we like it

Though isolated from modern-day distractions, Casa Oropéndola has no shortage of incredible activities. The lodge is within walking distance from untouched waterfalls and flora-filled hiking trails. You can participate in yoga on the terrace, traditional cooking classes, and professional photography lessons. Several months out of the year, the lodge harvests their own organic coffee. You are welcome to help pick the coffee beans and exclusively enjoy the final product.
