It’s no surprise that La Casa Amarilla is regarded as one of the go-to places to stay in Colombia. Found in the relatively untouched town of Mompox, this restored colonial house features 10 rooms, beautiful gardens and a rooftop terrace with amazing views of the incredible architecture nearby. This is as charming as they come.
La Casa Amarilla is situated in the centre of Mompox in the historic Santa Bárbara Plaza, a perfect location to get out and explore the wealth of culture and architectural wonders that surround you. With it being placed in front of the Magdalena River, there is also ample opportunity for activities such as bird watching and boat trips.
The comfortable suites are all well-equipped with impressive amenities including an indulgent bathroom and king-sized bed to make you feel at home. With excellent service and a calming atmosphere to boot, each room places a strong emphasis on authenticity – an aspect they’ve managed to get spot on.
Why we like it
Keeping true to the traditional aesthetic of the town, La Casa Amarilla stands out from the rest with its humble, elegant surroundings. The location is ideal, but our highlight was taking in the unparalleled river view while up on the roof terrace; we think anyone would struggle to beat the level of tranquility here.
