Start Planning

A Floating Palace

Flying into New Delhi, you’ll spend a night among India’s famously hectic streets before continuing to Udaipur in the morning. On reaching the City of Lakes, you’ll stop off at the 108 temples of Eklingji & Nagda. A popular site of pilgrimage, this fascinating complex is a great way to get acquainted with India’s Hindu culture. Class is also integral to India’s cultural identity, so get a taste of the upper class with lunch at the 18th-century palace of Devi Garh, before seeing the other side of the coin with a visit to a local village. You’ll then return to palatial comforts with the next three nights spent at the iconic Taj Lake Palace, which seemingly floats amidst Udaipur’s Lake Pichola.

Local Life

One of India’s most beautiful cities, you’ll get to know Udaipur on a privately guided city tour, taking in majestic palaces and intricate temples. For a glimpse of the vibrant local life, head into the bustling bazaars where the spiced aromas and bright colours will overwhelm your senses. Then, leaving behind the tempting bazaar shops, you’ll check out one of India’s rarest and most unique arts; that of Jal Sanjhvi, or drawing on water. Watch in wonder as artisan craftsmen create vivid and detailed images, usually of the god Krishna, on the water using coloured powder. Before leaving Udaipur, you’ll also enjoy a tranquil boat ride on the shimmering waters of Lake Pichola, taking in the charm of the city and the splendour of your hotel.

Ayurveda in Ananda

From Udaipur, you’ll follow the Ganges north to the foothills of the Himalayas. Spend your final three days breathing in the fresh mountain air and enjoying the renowned spa facilities of your luxurious hotel, Ananda. To gain true insight into the importance of the Ganges to Indian culture, you’ll also visit the city of Rishikesh on the banks of the holy river. Here, you’ll bear witness to an Aarti worship ceremony at dusk. A powerful ceremony that transcends all languages, cultures and religions, stand beside pilgrims, locals and tourists alike for a spiritual experience like no other, bringing about a sense of enormous well-being.
