Mexico
Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa, Riviera Maya
Mexico has a reputation for unrivalled stretches of untouched beaches and you can’t quite beat the Belmond Maroma Resort for its spectacular location, caught between lush jungle and white sands. You’ll spend your time at the resort relaxing for the most part and the staff at the Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa are ever on hand to help you accomplish this (not especially arduous) task. If lazing around on the beach or by the bar isn’t quite to your tastes, however, then the hotel has a host of activities nearby; from snorkelling to diving in nearby underwater cave complexes, a bit of adventure isn’t very far away.
Location
The hotel itself is perched on the edge of the coastline, looking out to Cuba. The Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa has all the hallmarks of the best beach hotels: pristine beaches, thatched sun shades and discerning waiters ready to bring snacks along if all the sunbathing makes you feel a bit peckish. There is some world-class snorkelling on your doorstep, as well as the opportunity to dive in the nearby underwater caves. You can also head out from the hotel to some of Mexico’s most famous heritage sites.
Your Room
The Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa offers a wide variety of rooms, from junior suites to a four-bedroom villa. Our pick of the bunch is the Ocean-Front One Bedroom Suite. Designed with honeymoons in mind, this ultra-luxurious suite is adorned with clean white drapes and vibrant orange hammocks. Our favourite detail is undoubtedly the unimpeded ocean views the room offers out across the beach and beyond. Also, with your stay, the hotel also provides you with sarongs and a beach bag for your daily (and not very far) excursions onto the sand.
Why We Love It
What is there not to love at the Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa? The rooms are elegant, the beach is perfect and the staff are incredibly helpful. The hotel’s location makes it a great base for any trips out to nearby Cancun, or to experience some Mexican culture. Whether you spend a single night here or the week, you’ll find it difficult to leave when your time is finally up.
