ROKI Collection, Queenstown
Tranquility, in Queenstown of all places. That’s the promise behind ROKI Collection, a name rooted in te reo Māori that simply means tranquil. At just 15 glass-fronted suites, the hotel earns that description rather than merely claiming it, and the same care runs through the kitchen and the wellness offering: a culinary team with serious credentials across three distinct dining outlets, and ROKI Pure, an in-house sanctuary that brings a depth of experience genuinely rare this close to a city center.
LOCATION
Every suite looks out across Lake Wakatipu to the Remarkables mountain range, a view that does a lot of the hotel’s work before you’ve even unpacked. Queenstown’s downtown is a short stroll away, and the hotel’s car is available each evening to take you there in style.
YOUR ROOM
Each suite is built around details that reward attention: working fireplaces, deep bathtubs, and walk-in wardrobes, all set within interiors of natural materials and soft tonal palettes. Every window frames the lake and mountains beyond. The scale runs from intimate suites for couples to the four-bedroom ROKI Suite with its rooftop plunge pool and private butler, and the three and four-bedroom options can connect to create a seven-bedroom private residence on a single floor.
WHO IT SUITS
ROKI’s wellness offering makes it a natural first choice for couples wanting to step back from the city’s pace, and the intimate suite configurations give that intention somewhere to land. Families are equally well served: the family suite is built around the logic of travelling with children rather than simply accommodating them, with a dedicated family bedroom with a split king sitting alongside a master bedroom, and a central lounge stocked with games and a discreet hideaway TV giving everyone a shared space to decompress without retreating to separate corners.
WHY WE LIKE IT
Most Queenstown hotels exist as a base camp for getting out, and ROKI is deliberately not that. The restaurants alone give every reason to linger: Essence for fine dining, The Terrace for seafood against views that turn dinner into an event, and the Library Bar with its celebrated wine cellar. ROKI Pure, meanwhile, partners with The Tides Wellness for science-backed Rituals, two of which are worth singling out. Reset delivers a curated self-care kit to your suite, stocked with bath soaks, sleep mists, and sensory tools, for a deliberate evening in. Rewild takes you by helicopter to a secret South Island wilderness location for a ritual under open skies.
SUSTAINABILITY
The kea is a native New Zealand alpine parrot and, in Māori culture, a symbol of freedom and protection. It’s also ROKI Collection’s brand ambassador, a choice that carries real weight: kea numbers have been decimated by introduced predators, and ROKI has backed the symbolism with action. The hotel partners with predator control group Southern Lakes Sanctuary and the Kea Conservation Trust, with a full-time sustainability officer overseeing the work on the ground and staff heading into the bush for hands-on predator control. Guests are invited to contribute directly.
