Tranquilo Bay
In the heart of the Isla Bastimentos National Marine Park sits Tranquilo Bay, an adventure eco lodge, and with a range of excursions on offer here, this resort has really earned its title. Choose from island hopping to hiking, snorkelling to kayaking and surfing to wildlife tours, there is something for everyone. With abundant wildlife all around you, expect to see sloths, speckled caimans, spotted eagle rays, white faced capuchins, rare tropical insects, iguanas and everyone’s favourite ocean dweller – the dolphin.
Location
Tranquilo bay is situated on Bastimentos Island, in the archipelago of Bocas Del Toro, on the northern Caribbean coast of Panama. The lodge is sensitively positioned amongst the convergence of three eco-systems, providing a spectacular opportunity to comfortably immerse you in one of the most biologically diverse places on earth. Flights run daily from Panama City to Bocas town, where you’ll be whisked off on a 20 minute speed boat ride to Tranquilo bay.
Your room
The eco lodge consists of six luxury cabanas; each crafted from local sustainably sourced hardwoods and decorated with a calming colour palate, tiled floors and fine linens. Four of the six cabanas have beautiful ocean views whilst the other two look over the luscious rainforest. The cabanas can each accommodate between two and four people, with three having a queen sized bed while the other three each have two doubles.
Why we like it
There may be no pool or beach at Tranquilo bay, but a perfectly situated pier and decking area for you to unwind on, or jump off for a swim in the crystal clear waters to do some sea life spotting. We love the the impressive views from a climb to the top of the viewing tower – especially come sunrise or sunset. The lodge offers an authentic rainforest island getaway with the emphasis strongly on conservation of the surrounding sea and jungle, for you to discover and enjoy all the beautiful flora and fauna.
