I had a very special trip to South Africa with Black Tomato. The booking process was the best I’ve experienced, very friendly experts who helped guide my choices and they really knew their stuff. The properties I stayed at excelled in both the luxury experience and wildlife guiding. Will use them again.
We couldn’t have dreamed of a more perfect honeymoon. From the moment we connected with Black Tomato, Christie created the perfect safari experience in Zimbabwe for us. It was organised down to the last detail, from the moment we arrived in Johannesburg for our connecting flight to Zimbabwe to the last day of the honeymoon in Victoria Falls. We went to four lodges in Zimbabwe, each was unique but the service across the board was exceptional, and Christie was available throughout to deal with unexpected issues (like a local airline going out of business the night before our flight!). It was the trip of a lifetime which we will never forget, and is definitely the first of many trips we will book through Black Tomato.
We worked with Luca from Black Tomato for our honeymoon, and he booked us just an unbelievable experience in South Africa and Mozambique. I don’t think we would have been able to do something like this without them, and we highly recommend anyone looking to book a trip to approach Black Tomato with confidence! It’s hard to put into works how remarkable, luxurious, exciting and life changing our honeymoon was, but I’ll try! Black Tomato created an experience that I could have only dreamed about or seen on a television screen. My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of working with Camilla, one of Black Tomato’s sales agents, to plan our honeymoon in South Africa and Mozambique. She curated an experience that combined relaxation, adventure, education, and culture (all the things we wanted out of our 14-day honeymoon). The process was so seamless, it was unbelievable. We would talk about what we wanted and she would really listen. She then provided options and ideas that we never even thought of. In South Africa, we traveled to CapeTown, Franschoek and Madiwe. It was unreal visiting the apartheid museum and learning about everything that happened in the country. Then going to wine country and seeing how beautiful all the vineyards were (and of course tasting the delicious wine). And finally ending our South Africa leg with the game reserve. Seeing lions, giraffes, elephants, etc. literally 6 feet away from my vehicle was the highlight of my trip. Everyone should have the chance to see animals in their natural habitat. Once you do that, you’d never want to see them in a zoo again. Our last three days of the trip we enjoyed the beautiful Bengurru Island, which is off the coast of Mozambique. That boutique resort was my favourite because our room opened up right to the beach and gave us an unparalleled level of relaxation and beauty. Whether you’re planning a honeymoon, romantic getaway or a once in a lifetime trip Black Tomato should be your go-to for all your travel planning needs. Their exceptional service, geographical and cultural knowledge and expertise make them the perfect planning partner.
Black Tomato are exceptional at what they do. They are good listeners and deliver ideas you could not have dreamt about I have used them for more than 10 years, on the corporate front as well as extensive travelling throughout the world. From arranging a skiing holday to Whistler in Canada which coincided with the Winter Olypmpics, to get accommodation alone was a feat but also deliver on our wish to get tickets to the Opening Ceremony, some achievement. From South Africa game lodges offering excellent accommodation and cuisine but most importantly limited numbers in the vehicle you travel in to see the game knowing that this is best way for their clients to maximise their experience is how BT think. Add on white shark cage diving, paragliding in CapeTown and single seat performance car racing…… an amazing holiday experience. We’ve travelled with BT to see the gorillas in Rwanda, which is amongst the most amazing things we’ve done, a tour of Japan combined with Bali, an amazing trip around Sri Lanka including staying on a tea plantation high up in the mountains. A late thought, whilst in country, was a float plane trip back to Colombo… not a problem. We have enjoyed many other trips with BT, with future trips to Australia, Chile and Argentina as well as a holiday to Egypt, including a Nile cruise. From visiting sites and places at times when the general public have no access to avoid crowds, seeing sites that only a well connected agency can arrange are reflective of the detail BT go to. Of interest to potential clients of BT is that their local in-country agency partners are clearly subject to rigorous selection criteria, the standard of guides / drivers used being very high. On a BT tour you’ll never be subjected to a visit to a souk, bazar, cheap precious stone retailers etc… unless you request!! I cannot recommend Black Tomato more highly, they deliver consistently at a very high level, no mean achievement. Bill

Their customer service and attention to detail is second to none and they always make you feel special. We have recently travelled to Marrakesh with Black Tomato but over a 10 year period we have been to South Africa,Sri Lanka and Tenerife with them.We have never been disappointed and their individual touches make your trip very special.
Black Tomato were amazing from start to finish! They set everything up wonderfully and we had a gorgeous honeymoon. The only point I would say is that we were looking for something close to South Africa and the flight ended up being about 20 hours to the Maldives – so not as close as we had hoped. It was beautiful though, and we loved every minute of our trip.
Tessa helped us plan a trip to South Africa and I cannot recommend her highly enough. She was very helpful, knowledgeable, responsive and professional, and made it very easy to deal with her. Excellent service, highly recommend!
We used Black Tomato for the first time to go to South Africa for two weeks and will use them a lot again in the future. All of the logistical pieces of the holiday are booked reliably and you never have to think about how to get from one place to the other. The knowledge/experience of the travel coordinators was the best part, they know where you want to stay and what you want to do. Use Black Tomato, it’s well worth it.
