Uga Bay
Situated on the tranquil east coast of Sri Lanka, Uga Bay is a beach retreat with paradisaical natural surroundings. With only 46 rooms, this Sri Lankan hideaway bridges classic tropical and colonial architecture, creating a space that merges seamlessly with the tranquil coast and the Indian Ocean. At Uga Bay you’ll find a host of activities to suit all needs from adrenaline-pumping beach activities to the indulgent spa, so all the family is happy.
Location
With dazzling views of the Bay of Bengal, Uga Bay is sandwiched between golden sands and deep blue skies. The resort rests in the Batticaloa District, in the town of Pasikudah, just a 30-minute drive from the airport. This region is known for its long stretches of shallow coastline, and for those looking to explore the coast the nearby beach Nilaweli offers surfing and scuba diving, whilst Pasikudah is also full of wildlife wonders, coral reefs and animal sanctuaries.
Your Room
All 46 light and airy rooms look out over the blue hues of the Indian Ocean, with the beach studios housing direct and private access to the golden sands. We love the opulent Beach Villa, a two-storied ocean-side chalet where you can fall asleep to the sound of the ocean. The chalet’s main features include an outdoor bar, a private open-air plunge pool, and dedicated 24-hour butler service to cater to your every whim.
Why we like it
Uga Bay really does cater to your every need. Not only does the hotel’s restaurant serves up some of the most wonderful dishes from the sea alongside fresh local produce to the style of East Coast Sri Lankan cuisine, but it does so whenever it suits you. For a truly bespoke dining experience, you can also dine privately at a variety of locations, from poolside cabanas to seafood barbecues on the beach.
