The Siam Hotel, Bangkok

With its priviliged position presiding over the River of Kings, The Siam Hotel is without a doubt our new favourite place to stay in Bangkok. But where the River is King, serenity is Queen. When walking into this art deco oasis, with its 39 sumptuous suites, it’s easy to forget that you are in the heart of one of the busiest cities in Asia. Where else in this thriving metropolis, can you bask in the sun alongside a gorgeous garden infinity pool with magnificent views over the Chao Phraya River? We haven’t found anywhere else yet.

Location

Getting around Bangkok is never an issue when staying at The Siam. Whilst you’ll never have any trouble getting a taxi or a tuk tuk from this luxury bolt-hole, that’s just a bit boring isn’t it? Instead, head down to The Siam’s private pier and catch the hotel’s private river shuttle. It may not be the quickest way to get around but we’re all for slow travel, with the journey being just as important as the destination. But worry not, when it comes to airport transfers, kick back in style in your private limousine as you’re whisked just 45 minutes down the road. Located in the heart of the historic Dusit District, The Siam is the perfect base from which to explore, with everything from temples to markets to shops all just a step, tuk tuk or boat ride away.

Your Room

We absolutely love extraordinary travel, and the rooms at The Siam are anything but ordinary. Each of the 39 suites is unique, with a theme that draws on Thai life throughout the ages. But at the same time, they ooze luxury with huge king-sized beds, spacious living rooms and gorgeous art deco bathrooms. Rumour has it, the suites at The Siam are some of the largest in Bangkok, and that this is the only place you can find a pool villa in the capital. You can see why it’s our new favourite.

Why we like it

The Siam is all about breaking the mould and taking a step up above other luxury hotels. The team at this boutique gem strive to create unforgettable Thai journeys, and with that in mind, The Siam is the only hotel in Bangkok with its own professional Muay Thai boxing ring. Why not undertake a training programme with one of the experienced trainers and test not only your physical, but mental strength? If that wasn’t enough to set it apart, at the end of your stay, The Siam offers you the chance to take home an everlasting souvenir through ‘Sak Yant’ – an ancient Thai tattoo, done in their own in-hotel studio. We’re all for unique experiences, but there’s always the Curio boutique too.
