How long

5 nights ideal length

A few days in Palm Springs and it’s as if you are caught in a time warp between ’70s retro-chic and old Hollywood glamour, which leaves it all too easy to fall in love with. So here’s our five-night trip which showcases our favourite bits of Palm Springs. Whether that’s lounging by the pool like movie royalty, jeep driving your way around the desert or exploring the stars’ homes – we’ve got it covered. And where a cocktail hour is as frequent as the sun setting, it’s time to grab your shades and soak it up in SoCal.

POOL PARTY?

Upon arrival in Palm Springs, it’s time to check into your new home which conveniently comes in the form of a suite at the ACE Hotel. Known for its pool party vibe, you’ll quickly be swept up in the youthful atmosphere. Don your swimsuit and glasses and get involved with the action. Once the pool party concludes it’s everyone inside to continue the party at the hotel’s sought after night hot spot – Amigo Bar.

If you’re feeling the need for some cool mountain air, a mini hike over Mt. San Jacinto is the perfect answer. It stands 10,834 feet above sea level, making it the second-highest mountain range in southern California, and rewards you with spectacular views of Palm Springs. Then pass the afternoon by, by weaving in and out of the boutique stores in mid-town along Palm Canyon Drive – you’ll stumble across those gems you didn’t even know you needed.

GEOGRAPHICAL BEAUTY

Buckle up, it’s time to cruise this town Jeep style. It’s a known fact that California is spread across two of the world’s most famous tectonic plates and you can witness it first hand in Palm Springs by journeying to the San Andreas Fault Line. You can then cruise over to the Indian Canyons where there are more than 100 miles of trails showcasing stunning views, ancient palms and a real sense of adventure.

For something slightly slower paced pay a visit to the Palm Springs Arts Museum. It currently hosts 28 galleries, five art storage vaults, two sculpture gardens along with 55,000 objects which features art of the Americas and 20th century California art. Which leads us onto one of our favourite facts; Palm Springs has played home to many of Hollywood’s rich and famous, and some of the art displayed in the museum was once owned by some of the most iconic movie producers and silver screen starlets.

R&R AT THE RIV

End your time in Palm Springs with some much deserved R&R by checking into the Riviera Resort and Spa. Request a private cabana poolside and melt into the California sunshine, and with two pool-bars you’ll never risk being dehydrated. Riviera Resort is as famous as they come, once the stomping ground for the likes of Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe. They would treat the Riv like home even though they actually lived in the local area, and it’s something you shouldn’t miss while you’re here. Take a guided tour and explore these once private homes to some of the most popular stars and observe how the other half lived.

No one ever wants a holiday to finish, but we think the best way to call it a day is boarding the Aerial Tramway at dusk. It’s the world’s largest rotating tramcar which journeys up the sheer cliffs of Chino Canyon. Once you reach the top you can get panoramic views over the whole of Palm Springs, across to Mt. San Jacinto and deep down into the Coachella Valley, taking one last sweeping look over this beautiful corner of California – until next time …
