Selinda Camp, Selinda Reserve
On the banks of the eastern Selinda Spillway, this boutique camp is in prime location for some ace game spotting. The normally elusive African wildlife is in abundance here at Selinda Camp as they graze and hunt on the banks of the waterway. Embark on foot or by open-top 4×4 into the bush and witness life flourishing, in fact, we would go so far as to say that there is barely a moment in camp where there won’t be an animal in sight. Selinda Camp is the perfect place to hole up in before an exhilarating canoeing adventure down the spillway. The staff have taken luxury camping to new levels, combining top levels of service with a lodge that embraces the four key elements, earth, water, wind and fire; getting you closer to nature whilst being wrapped in that extra layer of luxury.
location
To gain access to this unique camp, you first take a 45-minute flight from Maun, on the edge of the Okavango Delta, to the private Selinda Airstrip, followed by an hours drive through the bush (with a great chance of spotting a huge variety of animals en route). Finally, and as a great introduction to the aquatic safari surrounding you, a tranquil 15-minute boat ride will see you to the shores of the Selinda Camp.
your room
With just nine spacious tents, traditional luxury is seamlessly interwoven with contemporary amenities at Selinda Camp. With wooden floors and a thatched roof, you will feel right at home whilst a quick glance out of the window will remind you of your stunning location.
why we like it
Nothing is quite as memorable as seeing a bloat of hippos (yes that really is what a herd of them are called) wallowing in the shallow channels in front of your luxurious tent. What’s more, the super friendly staff will always ensure you have a glass of something cool and some nibbles to hand to enjoy Mother Nature’s show. With the sun below the horizon, the campfires lit and the barbecues fired up your African dining experience really will be taken to the next level – a very delicious level at that.
