Your yellow sandy bay
After you’ve had your fill of Rio, you’ll leave for the Lagoa Helipad where you’ll board your helicopter to be whizzed over to Buzios. A 25 minute flight you’ll see breathtaking views of the city and along the coast. Landing at the Insolito Boutique Hotel, you’ll have a beach buggy at your disposal to explore the region during your stay. Located on the edge of Ferradura Beach, the 12 rooms of the Insolito are nestled in a horseshoe shaped bay.
Enjoy the superb views across the sea from the pool or head out onto the water on one of the hotel’s two boats. Hop between the beaches of Buzios in the Rush boat for fishing or a Robinson Crusoe-style deserted picnic. For a more exhilarating activity take out the Dragos and try your hand at water-skiing, wakeboarding and “boia-cross”, a variation of waterskiing. For the landlubbers, stick to the shores and take out one of the bicycles to discover the surrounding area. For a bit of relaxation after all your activities, take advantage of the Insolito’s Wellness Centre which provides body and facial treatments, massages and Indian rejuvenation rituals. Combined with the stunning nature roundabout, you’re sure to feel refreshed after your stay here.
Tropical rainforest and long white beaches
We’ve saved the best bit until last. Situated on a magical stretch of Brazilian coastline you’ll be taken to Ponta dos Ganchos via helicopter to Rio and then flight to Florianopolis. Secluded, away from the bustle of city living, it is within reach of a local fishing village that remains untouched by tourism ensuring you get a truly Brazilian experience. Staying in a private freestanding bungalow, you can freely roam through the local area, delve into the tropical rainforest or leave footprints in the soft sand.
If you’re feeling like being a bit more active, take a cooking course using fresh products from the area, visit the cachaca distillery and try the unusual Brazilian spirit or play a round of golf surrounded by the magical scenery. With such beautiful glistening waters, you’d be foolish not to dip into them for at least a while. Take a trip in a fisherman’s boat around the beaches of the bay, tasting wine and oysters as you go or jump into the water and swim with the tropical fish with a scuba diving instructor. Not to be missed is the whale watching trip. Seeing the whales flip their tails is a sight of a lifetime and one you’ll remember long after your trip has ended.
