Expertly combining tradition with a luxury contemporary style, Hangzhou’s Four Seasons Hotel is set in one of China’s most stunning and exclusive destinations. Surrounded on all sides by extensive traditional gardens and forest glades and overlooking Hangzhou’s infamous West Lake, this hotel guarantees its guests peace and serenity in a picturesque setting, as well as having a restaurant that serves some of the best Chinese food we have ever had.
Steeped in history and famed for its captivating natural beauty, Hangzhou is often referred to as ‘Heaven on earth’, and as soon as you arrive, you’ll see why. A mere 1 hour flight from Guilin or 1 hour train journey from Shanghai, Hangzhou is easily reachable and a must see on any tour of China. A visit here will see you experiencing the beauty of West Lake, ancient temples, pagodas and delicate bridges, as well as offering the opportunity to visit the famous Dragon Well tea plantation.
Four Seasons offers its guests the option of choosing between 81 guest rooms, including five suites, and you can also choose to stay in one of three luxurious, residential-style villas if you’re travelling with family or in a large group. Boasting amazing views of the gardens or lake, each room is decorated in a traditional yet modern style, with all the comforts you’d expect from a Four Seasons resort.
Why we like it
It’s the stunning and extensive gardens that surround the Four Seasons property that completely won us over. You’ll feel as though you’re encamped within the biggest traditional Chinese garden in the world during your stay here, with the gardens allowing the resort to blend seamlessly with its incredibly picturesque surroundings.
