How long

5 nights ideal length

Inspired by the latest Nordic Noir series, the dark, urban crime drama The Bridge, this five night Scandinavian trip takes you from the culturally rich capital of Copenhagen to the hip Swedish cities of Malmo and Stockholm. Walk the cobbled streets and alleyways of Copenhagen on a private literary tour with writers who helped produce some of our favourite Scandi dramas such as The Bridge and The Killing. Then cross the Oresund Bridge, where the chilling murder took place, into Malmo. You’ll finish up in the Swedish capital of Stockholm for an exploration of one of Europe’s most sophisticated  cities. Get a bird’s eye perspective as you climb to the roof of some of the city’s architectural gems on a thrilling rooftop walking tour where you’ll get incredible vantage points of the city and surrounding archipelago.

Chilling Copenhagen

Touch down in Copenhagen, one of Europe’s most effortlessly chic cities with its meandering canals, cobbled squares and of course culinary giants. Noma aside, Copenhagen has also become the cinematic centre piece for the wave of gritty Scandinavian  crime dramas known as Nordic Noir that have graced our TV screens in the last few years. You’ll be driven to your hip city crash pad for the next three nights – the exclusive Hotel Nimb located inside Tivoli Gardens in the heart of downtown Copenhagen. The city is renowned as one of the culinary capitals of the world, so take your pick of the 12 Michelin starred restaurants that the cast and producers frequent whilst on location.

Make this itinerary yours

Each and every Black Tomato trip is tailored exactly to who you are and what you want to do So tell us about yourself and we’ll create something that’s entirely you.

Start Planning

Rise and shine early and meet your driver for a cultural immersion into Copenhagen by visiting its iconic sites that feature in the series; the Supreme Court and the Royal Library and the grand City Hall.

From here your guide will take you past the Royal Theatre to “Newport” with its buzzing atmosphere, row of charming old Copenhagen buildings and canal full of old boats, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped onto the set of a Nordic Noir.

After lunch, another expert guide will pick you up for a special private literary tour focusing on the famous series The Bridge or Borgen.  This 2 hour city walk will take you into the “universe” of either of these series and you will visit all the places famous from the series, such as the Politigården (Police Headquarters) and the City Court which is used for a trial against a policeman who allegedly abused a man to death. For a last stop head to Blågårdsgade, a parallel street to Nørrebrogade in inner Nørrebro, a trendy pedestrian street lined with hip coffee shops, art shops and galleries, and quaint restaurants.

Crossing the Bridge

In the morning after breakfast, your private driver will pick you up and bring you across the famous Oresund Bridge to the city of Malmo in Sweden. The iconic structure takes about 40 minutes to cross so your driver will stop off for a chance to capture the views from the bridge which connects Denmark to Sweden, 15.9 km of architectural beauty.  Once over the bridge you’ll meet your guide in Malmo who will take you on a tour of the city by bike, the best way to the see the sites of the city. For art buffs head to the Moderna Muséet, the city’s new cultural hub set in a former power station that now contains one of the most comprehensive 20th-century art collections in Scandinavia. To really soak up the atmosphere of the city head to The Little Square a perfect place to sit and relax, with its cobblestones, carefully restored houses and 16th-century charm.

Stylin’ in Stockholm

The following morning you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight to Stockholm. Arriving at  Arlanda Airport you’ll be met by your driver and taken to the contemporary Lydmar Hotel perfectly located in the heart of the city. As well as being one of the most forward thinking cities in the world when it comes fashion and design, the Swedish capital is also a gourmet hotspot where you will find world-renowned restaurants as Restaurant Mathias Dahlgren, Restaurant Frantzen and other Michelin-starred experiences. For the next few days you’ll explore all that’s great about this uber-cool city from Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s Old Town to the stylish Södermalm district. Keeping in line with the theme of chilling experiences, we’ll arrange for you to take to the rooftops of the city on an exhilarating rooftop walking tour of the old city – not for the faint hearted. With a guide at hand you’ll be harnessed to the rooftops as you take in the incredible views of Stockholm. Notice the Royal Palace, official residence of the King and the old town which is right under your feet. Enjoy your last night in the capital hitting the famous night spots before bidding farewell to the Nordic nations and catching your flight home.
