Six Senses Shaharut, Negev Desert
Translated as ‘moments just before dawn’, Six Senses Shaharut makes for an enchanting escape within the mesmerising Negev Desert. Designed to preserve and reflect the natural landscapes, the luxury hotel is neatly nestled into a dramatic cliff face from where you’ll witness panoramic views of burnt orange sunsets over the mighty dunes from each of the 60 villas and suites. With a magnitude of ways to explore the unique wonders of the region, paired with sensational dining and an acclaimed spa, your time at Six Senses will undoubtedly be filled with intrigue and awe.
LOCATION
Set within the untouched lands of the Arava Valley in the south of the Negev Desert, Six Senses Shaharut is a 45-minute drive from Ramon international airport, and within four hours of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The location is at once idyllic and intrepid, perfect for those looking to venture out and explore Israel’s natural and archaeological sites or get their adrenaline pumping with mountain biking and rock climbing. Further afield, Petra, Masada and the Dead Sea all await discovery.
YOUR ROOM
Each of the 60 suites and villas has been inspired by the landscape, using local rocks, pigments and artisan crafts to connect you to the desert environment. Earthy tones and fabrics create calm whilst panorama suites add a touch of fire with sweeping sunsets that dominate the skies – best viewed from your private pool, of course. Not a detail is missed here with earth-friendly designs even going so far as to reduce outdoor lighting around the resort to maximise undisturbed views of a star-spangled sky.
WHY WE LIKE IT
Strike your warrior pose in a yoga studio that gazes directly out onto desert vistas or fly down the dunes on a jeep safari, the sky is the limit at Six Senses Shaharut. Early risers can enjoy a sunrise camel ride across the dunes, or alternatively, night owls can do the same as twilight approaches. Watch a movie beneath the stars at an open-air amphitheatre, created from the contours of the desert’s natural terrain or feast by a late-night fire pit, experiencing traditional Bedouin dining, based on ancient sand cooking techniques.
