Perched atop a secluded ridge overlooking the grassy plains of Kenya’s Borana Conservancy, Sirai House offers a truly luxurious take on an escape to the wild. A private house with just six suites, each offering a view more jaw-dropping than the last, it’s the perfect spot for a truly memorable family celebration – or an all-out getaway with friends. Putting the conservancy at your fingertips, days here invite game drives with a park to yourself, walking safaris with expert guide, Bonface, and long gallops across the grasslands, courtesy of Sirai’s private stables. A place where nothing is too much trouble, arrive at Sirai House and need not lift a finger until you leave.
Surrounded by the indigenous cedar and wild olive groves of Laikipia and nestled at the foot of Mount Kenya, Sirai House offers secluded luxury like nowhere else. A quick 50-minute private air charter from Nairobi and a half hour ramble across the plains in one of their custom built 4x4s is all that it takes to arrive at this African oasis. Once here, heli-safaris atop Kenya’s highest peak, wildlife-rich game drives and secluded afternoon picnics all await discovery.
Housed in private cottages, dotted amid idyllic terraced gardens, the six suites here guarantee ultimate privacy and seclusion with the house only ever taken on an exclusive use basis. Individually styled to reflect the love of architecture, design and art that went into creating Sirai House, each suite is as beautiful as the last and all boast stunning vistas, best enjoyed from the comfort of the huge soaking bathtubs. But what we really loved, was the feeling of home. Anticipating chillier evenings, floors are lined with thick rugs and beds are topped by cosy blankets, while gentle fires crackle in the fireplace and hot water bottles are left tucked up beneath the sheets. Snuggle down and drift off into peaceful slumber.
Why we like it
Complete with a gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the valley below, a cinema room with over 500 films to choose from and a whole host of stunning spaces in which to entertain; Sirai House could not be more perfect for a group of family and friends looking to get away and celebrate. Evenings gathered around the boma, nights spent sleeping beneath the stars and a whole conservancy seemingly to yourselves; this is a trip you could never forget.
