La Fiermontina Ocean
La Fiermontina Ocean is a luxury eco-retreat on the wild northwestern coast of Larache, framed by the hills of north Morocco and overlooking the glittering Atlantic Ocean. Part of a solidarity hospitality project designed by Giacomo Filali and Antonia Yasmina as a way of giving something back to their father’s native land, the hotel works to support the local community; boasting a traditional Hammam and Italian-Moroccan restaurant as well as a collection of enchanting suites, family villas, and traditional stone houses in the village of Dchier.
LOCATION
Situated along Morocco’s northwestern coast in the Larache province, La Fiermontina Ocean is a quick 45-minute drive from the white-washed port city of Tangier. As you head further away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you’ll follow the peaceful track leading to the small forgotten douars (rural villages) of Dchier, Tcharouah and Mezgalef, discovering secluded beaches and rolling fields before arriving at your private suite, villa, or traditional village house.
YOUR ROOM
La Fiermontina Ocean boasts a collection of charming suites, spacious villas, and traditional village houses which blend harmoniously with the surrounding landscape. Decorated with Taza stone floors, colourful Berber rugs, floor-to-ceiling windows, artisan design pieces, and traditional Moroccan furnishings, each suite is flooded with natural light and radiates African charm. Then there’s the outdoor spaces: private gardens and pool terraces overlooking the ocean. The perfect place to relax, soak up the sun, and take in the views.
WHY WE LIKE IT
One of our favourite elements of La Fiermontina Ocean is the emphasis placed on honouring local traditions and supporting the local community. Whether you’re relaxing with a Moroccan hammam treatment at the hotel’s spa or enjoying a “breakfast ritual” with a local family, sharing mint tea, and rghaïf (sweet flatbreads served with honey), you’ll gain unique insights into Moroccan culture while you relax and unwind. With spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and a panoramic terrace, the hotel’s restaurant also serves traditional Moroccan dishes made by local women with land-to-table ingredients sourced from local farmers.
SUSTAINABILITY
At La Fiermontina Ocean, the preservation of nature and the local community takes centre stage. In 2018, the Filali family founded the Khemis Sahel Dune Regional Natural Park and began implementing reforestation efforts including the reintroduction of 7500 olive trees, a large fruit garden, and a vast orchard where crops rotate with respect to the seasons. The hotel also supports the local community by supplying water, new roads, education and training as well as supporting local cooperatives and farming initiatives.
