New Zealand

Annandale, Banks Peninsula

Annandale. Would it be too dramatic to call this heaven on earth? Maybe, but it’s definitely close. Four luxury villas lie few and far between on a working coastal farm nestled between the rolling hills of the Banks Peninsula and the Pacific Ocean on New Zealand’s South Island. From an ultra-modern romantic retreat hanging over the waters of the Pacific to a restored 19th-century homestead surrounded by gardens and orchards; seclusion is an understatement. Escape to Annandale and stay where the world can’t find you.

LOCATION

The Annandale estate, tucked away on the north side of Banks Peninsula, is so far removed from the day-to-day that a helicopter is required to reach it. Or, you could hop in a 4×4, but we’d much rather take to the skies. Arrive at Annandale and feel a million miles away; even though it’s just fifteen minutes from Christchurch Airport. Become acquainted with the neighbours, and by neighbours we mean the rare dolphins and seals that splash in the waters below you at Seascape or the sheep that roam the rolling hills that surround the cedar-clad beach house of Scrubby Bay.

YOUR ROOM

With 4 luxury villas to choose from, you are truly spoilt for choice. While Seascape and Sheperd’s Cottage are romantic retreats that sleep only two; Scrubby Bay and Homestead sleep up to 14 guests and are the ultimate family homes to bring everybody together. Homestead, built in the 1880’s, is complete with four master suites and an outdoor jacuzzi fit for stargazing. Seascape, the jewel in Annandale’s crown, is where to go for those wanting to snuggle beneath a lamb’s wool blanket beside an open fire and feel like the only two people on Earth.

WHY WE LIKE IT

The one-of-a-kind location where rugged beauty rubs shoulders with ultimate luxury will have you never wanting to leave. Capturing what is truly unique about the unmistakable New Zealand countryside, each villa offers a different outlook. Soak in the Sheperd’s Cottage outdoor bathtub and look up to the snowy peaks of the Kaikoura mountain range while your private chef takes care of everything. Sit down in front of a plateful of farm-to-table produce and tuck into what will most definitely be a meal to remember.
