New Zealand
Eagles Nest, Bay of Islands
Teetering atop its own private peninsula, the luxurious Eagles Nest offers the ultimate boutique retreat. The five glass-clad villas make for an ideal retreat in this beautiful region and offer views that words simply cannot do justice to – you’ll just have to come and see for yourself.
Location
The isolated and beautiful Bay of Islands is located on the northernmost tip of New Zealand, where lush native bush disappears into the South Pacific Ocean. Entertainment here is provided by the ocean which offers a marine playground filled with first-class sailing, deep sea fishing, and dolphin or whale watching. If you find yourself longing for civilisation then the small, historical village of Russell is just a few minutes away.
Your Room
Each of the five cavernous villas hidden away in this resort is sleekly decorated with modern, luxe interiors. Walls of floor-to-ceiling glass offer a birds-eye view of the bay’s spectacular surroundings. All villas feature rich antique furnishings and outdoor Jacuzzis – some even come complete with their own heated infinity-edge pool. Two of our favourites, choose between the Scared Space Villa with its two-storey glass living room or the Rahimoana Villa which includes a Porsche among its long list of ‘amenities’. For those in search of their own romantic hideaway, the First Light Temple, which cuts deep into the subtropical hillside, offers a love nest perfect for any honeymoon.
Why we like it
More than just peace and quiet, with only five villas accommodating a maximum of just 22 people, you could easily imagine yourself lost on your own private island. Most of us dream of being waited on hand-and-foot and here every need is catered for, from deluxe in-villa spa treatments to your own private chef. You can even choose to have a personal butler to ensure you don’t even need to lift a finger—worth every penny.
