Nicaragua
Hotel La Perla
Amidst the bustling city of Leon, Nicaragua’s second largest city is Hotel La Perla, which has 15 rooms and suites, five poolside whilst the other 10 rooms offer impressive city views. This beautiful building boasts colonial construction, neoclassical architecture and a strong Spanish influence; the interior offers a luxurious romantic feel with classic Spanish style in mind – think polished stone floors, dark antique furniture and neutral walls. Leon is often considered the intellectual and agricultural centre of Nicaragua, with strong culinary influences making this the perfect place to discover the delicious Latin American cuisine.
Location
Hotel La Perla is situated in the historic Spanish Colonial city of Leon, which sits on the Chiquito River. Approximately 50 miles from the capital city of Managua and 11 miles from the beautiful Pacific coastline, the airport is only 90 minutes away by taxi and the coast only 15 minutes. Perfect for those who want to experience both a vibrant, culturally rich city and the pristine pacific beaches.
Your room
Choose from the five poolside rooms, or the 10 with fantastic city views. Size varies depending on what type of room/suite you go for, but all 15 rooms boast Spanish inspired interiors with dark antique furniture and all come with the usual mod cons such as air conditioning, luxurious bathrooms and even an in room spa service.
Why we like it
One of our favourite things about Hotel La Perla are the hand carved marble lions and beautifully traditional Spanish architecture. The hotel has a chilled, peaceful atmosphere whilst still being in the midst of a buzzing city, offering you ultimate relaxation without taking you out of the hustle and bustle. One place we recommend you pay a visit for a slice of Nicaraguan culture is the art centre of the Ortiz Gurdián, regarded as the best art museum in Nicaragua.
