Tintswalo Atlantic, Cape Town
Stepping through the gate at Tintswalo Atlantic Lodge feels like stepping through Alice’s proverbial looking glass into another world. Stylish yet understated Tintswalo offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean on your doorstep, literally. With Cape Town only a half an hours drive away, guests have the option of indulging in the sights and sounds of the city. Or getting away from it all by taking a boat trip to Seal island populated by some 6000 seals, exploring the Constantia wine lands or just watching the world (and sometimes whales) go by, from the wooden deck with its gloriously heated Jacuzzi pool and comfortable loungers.
Location
Tintswalo Atlantic is located two kilometres from Hout Bay on Chapman’s Peak road, nestled unobtrusively between the boulders of the Atlantic Ocean’s water’s edge and the slopes of the Cape Mountain Fynbos Reserve. The surrounding Milkwood trees have remained untouched offering absolute seclusion and relaxation enveloped by the rich and diverse flora and fauna.
Your room
Each suite is ocean-facing with a private deck, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The stylishly furnished rooms are individually decorated to emulate the experiences and colours of famous islands around the world. Everything has been thoughtfully chosen to heighten the beauty of the place, from the vast and exceedingly comfortable beds to the rain showers with pictures windows out to the ocean.
Why we like it
Where else in the world can you experience views like this? The most rewarding of which happen at dawn and dusk, when the sea and mountains are bathed in a warm red glow. We personally prefer to have ours with a sundowner, nibbling on mouth-watering canapés. A veritable feast, for the eyes and the palate.
