Can Bordoy Grand House & Garden, Palma
Hidden away on a quiet backstreet in the heart of the historic La Lonja quarter, you’ll find Palma’s best kept secret: Can Bordoy Grand House & Garden. Once a grand 16th Century mansion and afterwards a convent, the building has been artfully restored to become a beautiful haven in the centre of the city. With spacious, stylish suites, a lush green garden, and fantastic restaurant, Can Bordoy is a perfect fusion of old meets new. There’s nowhere better to soak up sunshine and culture with the whole of Palma at your fingertips.
LOCATION
Just a quick fifteen-minute drive from Palma airport, it’s an easy journey to Can Bordoy once you touch down. You’ll be perfectly placed at Can Bordoy to explore all that Palma has to offer. Situated between La Seu Cathedral and Es Baluard, Palma’s contemporary art museum, you’ll find many of the best shops, galleries, cafés and restaurants within close walking distance. And for adventurous travellers, the entire island of Mallorca will be yours to explore – whether it’s cycling trails, private yacht charters, or day trips to picturesque hilltop towns.
YOUR ROOM
Each of Can Bordoy’s 24 suites has been luxuriously, beautifully crafted. Striking a perfect balance between antique and modern style, the décor – by local design studio OHLAB – is undeniably stylish, paying homage to the unique character of each room. There are huge stone bathtubs and large walk-in showers, and from restored cornicing and wooden beams to original walls, characterful details from the building’s authentic state remain. One of our favourite rooms is the ‘sky suite’, which has a private terrace with stunning rooftop views over Palma, as well as its own jacuzzi and sun loungers.
WHY WE LIKE IT
The hotel’s centrepiece is undoubtedly its gorgeous private garden, home to dozens of verdant greeneries. Complete with its own pool (a rarity in central Palma), it’s the ideal place to unwind in sunshine or shade after a day of exploring. The garden also inspires the hotel’s excellent restaurant, Botànic, which creates innovative dishes using organic produce sourced from local farms. In line with the hotel’s sustainable and healthy philosophy, Botànic prides itself on ‘plant-forward cuisine’, taking diners on an exciting culinary journey that places vegetables and plant-based ingredients at the forefront (whilst also including fish and meat options). And if all that wasn’t enough, the hotel’s rooftop also boasts panoramic views of the city, best enjoyed at sunset.
