Discover our perfect Thailand recipe on this 12-day escape. Drawing on years of insider knowledge of the destination, we’ll pull together a sense of intrepid adventure with a dash of city buzz and stir in some time relaxing on the beach before seasoning it all with top quality guiding and unparalleled access. By the end of your trip, you’ll have seen the best Thailand has to offer, but also have uncovered rare sights few others get to see. Spending time with hill tribes and rafting on bamboo, anyone?

Street Eats and Ancient Culture in Bangkok

Kick off in bustling Bangkok, you’ll settle in at the luxurious Peninsula hotel. Spend three days exploring the city, including taking a boat trip through mangrove swamps and a guided evening food tour. Sample the best street food, from steaming noodles to black sesame dumplings and chilli sausages, before washing it all down with a cocktail on top of a skyscraper.

Start Planning

By contrast the next morning, you’ll start by offering alms to monks and exploring the age-old charm of the Amphawa district by foot or bicycle. Get an intimate glimpse into farming communities, ancient forts, and fruit plantations before drifting through mangrove swamps laden with monkeys.

The Traditions of Chiang Mai

Heading north, you’ll spend the next few days exploring cultural Chiang Mai from your base at the Anantara Chiang Mai. Tomorrow, you’ll take a deep dive into local life with a expertly guided hike to the Lahu (meaning ‘hunter’) Hilltribe Village. Spend the afternoon learning about their lifestyle, herbal medicine and unusual jewellery, before enjoying a traditionally prepared meal. The ultimate authentic Thai experience. The following day, we’ll arrange for you to spend some quality time interacting with elephants at a local sanctuary. In the afternoon, you’ll take to the river the traditional way. Float down a serene jungle river listening to the calls of exotic birds, while your guide steers your bamboo boat.

Unwind on the Andaman Sea

Finally, it’s back down south to the pristine beach of the Andaman Sea. A short flight will have you in Phuket in no time before you wind your way up the coast to the quiet town of Khao Lak where you’ll stay at the award-winning Sarojin hotel for three indulgent nights. The sand here is soft and white, the sea warm and clear, and the service impeccable.  What more could you ask for after your intrepid Thai adventure?
