Found at the heart of an immense natural territory in Wyoming, the Pacific redwood and lofty decor is a true reflection of Jackson’s rugged Teton mountains opposite. Think oak panelling, roaring fireplaces and candlelit balconies. An idyllic retreat, Amangani promises you an unforgettable experience. And with a name meaning peaceful home, it really does what it says on the tin.
Perched atop East Gros Ventre Butte in northwest Wyoming, Amangani is surrounded by snow-capped peaks offering a host of skiing and snowboarding activities for all ages and abilities. Not only is the resort close to the slopes, it is also a mere 10-minute drive from the quaint town of Jackson Hole. Look out across the raw valley of ‘The Hole’ where many a wild animal leaves a labyrinthine trail as they wander up into the spectacular snowy surrounding of the Rockies’ youngest and most riveting range.
All of the thirty odd suites and four homes have phenomenal views over the mountains but the corner suites have excellent wrap-around spotting scopes. Getting ready for skiing has never been an easy feat, so each suite has an additional living room space to spread out each sock, glove, hat and thermal layer. The suites also have their own decks so you can suss out tomorrow’s ski route. But if you want to stay within the comfort of your four walls? Simply enjoy the view from the deep soaking tub.
why we like it
Outside, the 30 meter pool, flanked by a Jacuzzi has heart-stopping mountain vistas and it remains toasty warm during the chilly Wyoming winters. But most impressively, the ski lodge in the heart of Teton village is a perfect place to borrow forgotten ski gloves, extra layers, warm up your ski boots and just have a well deserved chill out.
