Toronto’s Events Calendar

There is always something going on in Toronto, no matter what time of year, and for weeks on end the city’s energy is heightened by crowds of fashion fanatics, film buffs, artists and sportsmen, all vying to see the biggest names of their industry pile into town.

It would be impossible to go to everything, but we’ve listed some of our favourite just in case you feel like planning your trip around one of the best events of the year.

Fashion Week

When: February & October 

Any self-confessed fashion addict should make sure not to miss Toronto Fashion Week. With pop up events hosted around the city, now is your chance to check out some of Toronto’s up-and-coming designers as well as those already established names’ latest collections.

Canadian Music Week

When: May

Canadian Music Week sees the live music venues of the city erupt with incredible performances from 1,000 bands. From blues to rock, there’s plenty of dancing to be done. This is the perfect soundtrack to your Toronto adventure.

Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival

When: May 

Photographers from around the world come to exhibit at the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival. What’s more, just about every venue in and around the city, public and private becomes host to some of the most fabulous photography, both professional and amateur.

Toronto Fringe Festival

When: July

The Toronto Fringe Theatre Festival is one of the liveliest events of the calendar. With productions to suit all tastes and all ages, this indie festival is always a winner.

Rogers Cup

When: August

Watch the tennis greats battle it out for the Roger’s Cup, hosted in Toronto every summer. Booking well in advance is recommended because this is a prestigious sporting event not to be missed.

Toronto International Film Festival

When: September 

TIFF, as it’s more affectionately known, is a world-renowned film festival that sees the world-spotlight turn its attention to Toronto each year. Celebrities and cinephiles alike pour into the city every year to see the films that are generating Oscar buzz and causing a stir. This is definitely one of the most glamorous events of the year.

Toronto Food and Wine Festival

When: September 

A three day international event, the Toronto Food and Wine Festival is the perfect opportunity to spot celebrity chefs and check out the local artisan offerings too. There are plenty of tastings and workstores throughout so you can really appreciate the diverse foodie scene in Toronto.

Nuit Blanche

When: October

For one night of the year, the contemporary arts take over the city. Explore the live performances and installations throughout the night that will take you from district to district in a fantastic party atmosphere.

The Toronto Christmas Market

When: December 

What better event to get you in the festive spirit than Toronto’s annual Christmas market. With artisan goods, delicious food and drink and the charm of any European market of this kind, wrap up warm for a cozy evening of Christmas fun.
