The Langham, Sydney
Whether it’s the first or the thirty-first time, a stay at The Langham always feels like coming home. Intimate and personal, the staff greet you by name with a genuine warmth that can come hard to find. Muted tones with soft accents grace the 98 rooms and suites, delicate blooms are left on every surface and an afternoon tea of delicate creations draws you in for afternoons at The Palm Court. Moving gently through everything it does, round off a tranquil Sydney stay with an hour or two in the blissful surrounds of The Day Spa by Chuan.
Location
Opening up onto sweeping harbour views, The Langham sits cocooned within the historic neighbourhood of The Rocks. Quaint cobbled streets lined with heritage brick buildings and dotted with local markets set the scene for this quintessentially elegant hotel. A 45-minute drive from Sydney International Airport and a quick hop to the harbourfront and Circular Quay, The Langham puts you in prime position.
Your Room
Beneath high ceilings and within soft panelled walls, the 98 rooms and suites are bound in soft leathers and accented with silks of aquamarine, peach and chartreuse, with large windows bathing the rooms in sunlight with their views out towards the city or harbour. Mirrored surfaces topped with delicate roses and king-sized beds backed by buttoned headboards in a subtle dove grey, give a sense of homeliness as you settle in for a few nights. To make the most of it though, opt for a terrace room or suite and simply step out and soak it all in.
Why we like it
An icon of The Langham, step out of the lobby and find a fleet of pink taxis on hand to whisk you just about anywhere in the city you want to go. Though if slow travel is more your pace, bicycles of a similarly rosy hue are also on hand, with the kitchen poised to pack up a glamourous takeaway picnic box to complete this perfect afternoon escape.
