Gomoti Plains Camp, Okavango Delta

Named after the water fig trees that grow alongside the waterways of the Okavango Delta, Gomoti Plains Camp is Botswana’s best kept secret and one we’re happy to let you in on. Spend your safari holiday in one of the 10 classic style luxury tents and enjoy a region that is off the beaten track and full of wildlife. From nesting water birds to the endangered African wild dog it is in prime location for your safari adventure. A traditional, get-back-to-nature camp that still retains luxurious features such as a swimming pool and a spa therapist Gomoti is for experiencing authentic safari in style.

A quick 30-minute flight from Maun will take you to Gomoti. It is on the edge of the Gomoti river system in a seldom-visited area of Botswana’s Okavango Delta. A wetland in the heart of the Kalahari Desert the Okavango Delta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has been described as ‘Africa’s Last Eden’ and it makes for a unique safari experience. Thanks to Gomoti’s secluded location staying here means you can have the delta’s wildlife almost entirely to yourself.

Your room

The ten luxury tents consist of two family units and eight double rooms. They are all on raised wood decking which allow you greater views of the beautiful Gomoti river system whilst still remaining in the heart of the action. They are decorated in a classic safari style and designed to complement the Okavango Delta’s meeting of water and land. These are not your ordinary tents as they are decked out with comfortable double beds, hot and cold water, indoor and outdoor showers and his and her basins. You will feel completely immersed in the African plains as you look out over acacia trees and luscious green grass and let the songs of the water birds send you to sleep at night.

Why we like it

Gomoti is an intimate and authentic camp where you can fully appreciate the beauty of the Okavango Delta in peace and quiet. It has a swimming pool, library and spa therapist for ultimate relaxation, and offers a range of safari experiences that are not to be missed. Traditional walking safaris and game drives and Botswana mokoro and motorised boat tours are all a possibility here and the beauty of them all is that you can do them without the added noise and annoyance of other tourists. Gomoti is a calming oasis in Africa’s last Eden.
