A former Soviet Brutalist building, ensconced deep within the Caucasus Mountains and transformed into a modern-day masterpiece where alpine chic meets cutting-edge design, Rooms Hotel Kazbegi is the last thing you’d expect to find in the Georgian countryside. Location

A three-hour drive directly north of Tbilisi, or a slightly zippier helicopter flight, Kazbegi makes for a quaint alpine retreat with some knock-out hikes and biking trails. Rooms Hotel is framed by the spectacular backdrop of the Caucasus Mountains with rooms looking out to either Mount Kazbek and the Tsminda Sameba Church or the surrounding forests and woodland. Spend the next few days discovering remote villages and untouched landscapes either by foot, traditional horseback – or the more modern quad bike.

Honouring the alpine location, the 155 rooms bring a sense of mountain charm to an otherwise rustic minimalism. Natural materials such as reclaimed woods and weathered brick accents are warmed by cognac-coloured leathers and the sunlight that streams in through the floor to ceiling windows that seemingly dominate every space.
