El Fenn, Marrakech
One of Marrakech’s most stylish Riad hideaways, El Fenn has topped the list of global movers-and-shakers’ places to stay, welcoming everyone from Winston Churchill to Yves San Laurent. This secluded retreat houses 28 individually styled rooms and suites and is the perfect spot for exploring the exotic city of Marrakech. In an unbeatable location, El Fenn is a mere five minutes walk from the world-famous Jemaa el Fnaa square and a maze of souks. Head in and explore or simply choose to unwind in one of the tree-filled courtyards and watch the family of resident tortoises go about their day.
Location
Nestled right in the heart of rose-hued Marrakech, El Fenn is just a short 10-minute drive from Marrakech Menara Airport and minutes away from the city’s famous Medina which you can explore easily on foot. With our expert local guides, you’ll be able to explore the beautiful Koranic College Ben Youssef Medersa, the ancient Jewish quarter with its maze of alleyways and the recently opened Yves Saint Laurent Museum.
Your room
Each of the 28 rooms exudes a personal style and Moroccan glamour but we loved the Pool Suite, which offers a gorgeous private 600-foot terrace and plunge pool. Or for something a little more vibrant, the ‘Pink Room’ features a large marble bathroom with a mini hammam and a bathtub lined in marble shot through with rosy hues. Whichever room you choose, most are open-plan suites with fireplaces, and all feature six-foot-wide beds with Egyptian cotton bed linen, giant custom-built baths, and powerful showers. In each room, you’ll also find local artworks from the owner’s private collection.
Why we like it
El Fenn’s cosy corners and shaded nooks make it the perfect retreat to unwind and enjoy the Moroccan sunshine. We loved the spa and hammam, where guests can enjoy traditional Moroccan treatments with a luxurious twist. Aromatic scents, flickering candlelight and a Moroccan staple, mint tea, served around the spa pool; it would be easy never to leave El Fenn.
