Myanmar
Bagan Lodge
Bagan Lodge feels like a home away from home in a mysterious land, a relaxing stop-off point on the discovery of a lifetime. Bagan is to Myanmar what Angkor is to Cambodia, an ancient city that will transport you back in time and wow you with its history. This stunning hotel has 85 rooms, decorated in a fusion of Burmese and contemporary decor that is sure to make you feel comfortable. We can’t think of a better place to unwind in the evenings after discovering what Bagan has to offer.
Location
Bagan itself stretches away from the banks of the Irrawaddy River towards an utterly unique combination of desert and lush green landscape. Situated 700km north of Yangon and 300km south of Mandalay flights from either place take less than two hours. Bagan Lodge is situated in the New Town, walking distance away from Bagans largest temple Dhammayangyi. With over 2,200 temples, pagodas and ruins decorating just 100 square kilometres this area is a gem for archaeological enthusiasts.
Your room
Each of Bagan Lodge’s 82 rooms and three suites makes you feel like you’ve entered your very own Myanma sanctuary. Decorated with gleaming teak floors and handmade furniture the earthy tones of the rooms have a distinctive oriental yet classic style. Both rooms and suites have their own private balconies where you can enjoy the sun and a cocktail whilst looking out onto the lodge’s pristine gardens.
Why we like it?
We love the huge swimming pool complete with pool bar, the perfect way to cool off after a busy day of sightseeing in the heat. Add a signature spa ritual and you’ve got a win-win situation; our favourite is the traditional ‘Journey to Bagan’ which features a Tamarind body scrub and Myanmar massage and leaves you feeling totally at ease.
