Villa Inle Resort and Spa is the perfect spot for the modern eco traveller. With 27 airy, spacious rooms overlooking the stunning waters of the Inle Lake it is hard not to feel at one with nature here. Get ready for the ultimate relaxation as you drink in the mountain views, rejuvenate with an Inle Spa treatment and sample the Shan traditional cuisine as the sun sets over the lake.
The resort is spread over 20 acres on the southern side of the Inle Lake, just a 60 minute flight from the capital of Yangon to the local airport Heho. Framed by the famous Blue Mountains of the Shan Plateau the lake is home to the Shan and Intha peoples who live in floating villages on its surface. Taking in these sights is an activity in its own right, but there’s plenty more to see and do. Observe the Buddhist weavers making unique lotus fibre robes and shawls or visit the incredible golden Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda at the western end of the lake. The Aythaya winery is 40 minutes by car, where you can tour the vineyards and learn about the wine as you taste it.
The lakeside villas are designed to blend in to the natural environment of the lake and the huge floor to ceiling windows wholly complete this task. Featuring local paintings and antiques, high wooden ceilings and spacious living areas the rooms make you feel totally at home. Each villa has its own surrounding garden as well where you can pick fresh fruit whenever it takes your fancy.
Why we like it?
Villa Inle Resort and Spa is totally original which completes its charm. Their self-sustaining process of growing organic plants, herbs, vegetables and fruit not only does wonders for the environment but has health benefits for you too. Their policy is to make sure that their staffs are at least 90% local so you’ll be immersed in the fascinating culture of the Intha people as well.
