Serra Cafema

The secluded lodge Serra Cafema is located on the banks of the Kunene River in the Hartmann Valley, and is one of the most remote camps in Southern Africa. With a mix of luxurious and rustic elements, the eight riverside villas blend seamlessly with the breathtaking landscape, an ideal location for unwinding between the myriad of adventures you will experience during your stay.

LOCATION

Nestled in the Hartmann Valley in the far north-west of Namibia, Serra Cafema delivers never-ending panoramic views of the magnificent desert and is home to herds of springbok, mountain zebra and native birds and reptiles. The camp is only reachable by a 3-hour flight (in a light aircraft) from Windhoek, and as you arrive – in view of the curious desert chameleon – you get a sense of the site’s magnitude. Surrounded by Namib desert sands and the lush oasis of the river, Serra Cafema is an amiable gateway to the multitude of activities and game viewing offered by the wilderness.

YOUR ROOM

Set by the river and shaded by a canopy of indigenous trees, the eight unique canvas and thatched villas fuse harmoniously with the scenery. Each villa has a beautiful en-suite bathroom and elevated wooden deck, with views from every angle of the river – perfect for an afternoon taking in the breathtaking vistas and later falling asleep to the sound of the rapids below.

WHY WE LIKE IT

This intimate setting in one of the most secluded and contrasting environments in Africa offers a unique experience that is hard to surpass; a stay at Serra Cafema truly is a Namibian experience not to be missed. Whether you’re soaking up the surroundings, visiting the local Himba people, boating down the rapids or relishing a private lunch by the river, the awe of this unique and dazzling environment will continue to amaze.
