Lamai Serengeti
It’s all about the jaw-dropping views at Lamai. Built on the side of a prominent Kopje (dome-shaped hill) in a remote corner of the northern Serengeti, this boutique gem is one of the only permanent lodges within the national park. The lodge is split into two unique parts with the main structure housing eight spacious rooms whilst the smaller private lodge, just half as many. Look forward to days of pulsating game viewing in virgin bush followed by relaxing evenings round the pool or campfire…perfection? It might just be.
Location
Despite its remote position, access couldn’t be easier with a quick flight in from Dar es Salaam or from one of the ‘bush runways’ located throughout the country. Situated in close proximity to the Mara River, the Lamai is elevated up above the granite outcrops and scattered woodland that is so typical of this part of Tanzania. From your privileged position game spotting is a doddle with lions, leopards and vast herds of wildebeest meandering past the bottom of the kopje.
Your room
The twelve open air rooms are cleverly constructed with you in mind; maximizing your game viewing opportunities whilst making sure that every last detail including comfy sink into beds and plenty of places to relax are taken care of. Understated chic is the name of the game here with soothing creams and beiges adorning the dark wooden fittings and, of course, your room will be finished off with a private wrap around balcony.
Why we like it
Views, views and more views…where ever you are in the lodge you are bound to see something that will make you look twice. Whether at one of the two private bars or just relaxing by the pool, trust us always keep your camera at the ready. Waking up in the dreamy comfort of your bed to spot a lioness looking after her cubs in the early morning is not a situation you are likely to find yourself in too often now is it?
