Ko’a Kea Hotel & Resort, Kauai

Commanding its own little slice of beach-front paradise on the ethereal Hawaiian island of Kauai,  Ko’a Kea Hotel & Resort is a luxe and atmospheric oasis that perfectly encapsulates Kauai’s laid-back yet unique lifestyle. Boasting its own gold sand beach, palm-shaded tropical gardens and unspoiled views out towards the horizon, Ko’a Kea is the perfect microcosm of this magical isle.

LOCATION

The resort sits on the southern shores of Kauai, in an area called Poipu. Around a 30 minute drive from the airport, this area is largely untouched, and you’ll enjoy views of old plantations and rolling green hills as you approach. From the hotel, you’re only a few minutes drive from the quaint Old Koloa Town, a historic area of charming boutiques and authentic restaurants, as well as the restaurants around Poipu itself. And let’s not forget the fact that Ko’a Kea lays claim to a beach-front location. This is a wild island of incredible beauty, and Ko’a Kea is there to help you experience the best of it.

YOUR ROOM

Fresh decor brings the ocean and Kauai landscapes to the fore in Ko’a Kea’s collection of guestrooms and suites. Vast windows ensure you’ll be bathed in light as you look out to the gardens or across the ocean, whilst the huge bathrooms add yet another element of luxury to your stay. An Oceanfront Suite is an absolute must if you’re looking to really treat yourself, complete with a sweeping balcony that’s almost right on the beach, you’ll look forward to spending your nights and early mornings here.

WHY WE LIKE IT

It’s all about the location at Ko’a Kea. Being within touching distance of the ocean really does have its benefits. You can paddle-board, snorkel, and then hop over to the pool area for a quick lunch before hitting the waves for your surf lesson. What’s more, the sunsets are spectacular and, if you’re lucky, you may even wake up to see an endangered monk seal snoozing on the sand.  Follow this with a sunset stroll along the sand and a three-course dinner at Red Salt and you’ve just had a pretty good day in Kauai.
