Who doesn’t love a spot of sailing? And there’s nothing quite like sailing the waters of the British Virgin Islands.
Boasting constant winds, over 60 islands (perfect for anchorage) and some beautiful weather, it’s no surprise that this stunning part of the Caribbean is recognised by most as being the sailing capital of the world. People travel to the BVI’s in search of sun, sea, sand and, more often than not, maritime adventures. So, we thought it appropriate to catch up with one of the Caribbean’s most seasoned captains to give you a unique insight into the ways of the waves around these beautiful islands.
Joel O Frett, A.K.A Captain Boss (we know, he couldn’t have picked a better pseudonym) was born on Tortola in 1967 and, as he grew in this paradisiacal setting, so did his passion for sailing. As a little boy he sailed small pleasure boats, eventually working his way up from boat cleaner to the educated and passionate captain he is today.
An interview to inspire dreams of azure waters and chartered yachts, this is one guy who knows these beautiful islands and their watery surrounds like the back of his hand…
