Nearing the end of lockdown, we’re still craving connection

With #JourneysToCome, we’re celebrating the trips and experiences we’re going to take again.

These aren’t normal times. Facing a still largely uncertain future, much of the world has experienced a period of extended lockdown and isolation. Many around the world have been asked to stay at home, or have no choice. Formerly bustling airports now seem eerily empty, and city squares deserted. But there are signs of change; of opening.

But travel has always been about dreaming; dreaming of somewhere else and of some time else. When we founded Black Tomato 15 years ago, it was based on our desire to share the breathless excitement of having that life-changing trip on the horizon. We wanted to share the dream of travel — the heady anticipation — as well as the journey itself.

Through the thick of lockdown, that act of dreaming became more powerful than ever before. Working from home; in isolation with our families; sending messages and texts on our phones and devices. With time on our hands, it’s only human that our thoughts might turn to places distant and far away. In fact, this becomes our window onto the world — and our window to you. Dreaming together — in a brand new content series — of our Journeys to Come.

“Let’s talk, and dream, and plan something to look forward to”.

And so, with each passing week, we’ll be casting a spotlight on a brand new journey for the months and even year ahead; asking our Travel Experts which spectacular moments in the global calendar are going to light up the end of 2020 and the first months of 2021. Each journey won’t just be a place, but a reason to travel; a festival, a sporting event – even a naturally occurring wonder – something and somewhere incredible to look forward to once this dark cloud has passed.

So please do keep updated via @blacktomatotravel on Instagram, @blacktomato on Facebook and sign up to our emails, where we’ll be sharing the reasons why these particular Journeys to Come are just so unmissable, and the perfect way to mark the end of isolation.

After all, let’s all remember that this will pass; that, despite the seeming closure of the world, our Travel Experts remain ready, waiting and online: happy as ever to chat to clients new and old. We’re a travel company, and even if you can’t travel today, tomorrow or even next month, there’ll be a time when you can. So let’s close the distance. Let’s talk, and dream, and plan something to look forward to. Let’s plan a Journey to Come.
