The next morning, wake bright and early because you’re off to the snowcapped peaks and stunning mountain vistas of Banff National Park. For two nights you’ll be staying in the palatial Fairmont Banff Springs that is nestled in the pristine forest of this UNESCO world heritage site.
Enjoy the ultimate thrill of seeing the Canadian Rockies from above in a helicopter ride over the area, and make sure to have your camera at the ready. Put on those hiking boots and head outside, finishing off with a swim in the hot mineral pools at the upper hot springs. If you’re feeling adventurous then embark on the ultimate whitewater experience down the Kicking Horse River in British Colombia. There’s no better way to relax after this big day out than in the Fairmont’s Willow Stream Spa, the ultimate spot to rejuvenate those tired muscles, followed by some world-class cuisine in one of the restaurants. On day four head east across the park towards the Fairmont Lake Louise which will be your home for the night. Surrounded by the majestic Victoria Glacier and a glistening emerald lake this is the perfect spot to embark on the ultimate Western Experience on a scenic trail ride on horseback where you can take in every inch of the iconic wilderness.
TAKE THE ROCKY MOUNTAINEER TO VANCOUVER
Next up you’ll be experiencing the natural wonders of the West in a totally different way. Spend two days aboard the brilliant Rocky Mountaineer train travelling across scenic valleys, the Coastal Mountain Range and the Fraser Canyon with its spectacular white water and dramatic landscape. Even though you’ll be in the middle of this remote wilderness, there’s certainly no such thing as roughing it here. The designers have outdone themselves as you’ll be sat in a bi-level glass domed coach where you can take in the dazzling vistas from upstairs and enjoy delicious dinner downstairs. After a night in a hotel in Kamloops you’ll arrive in Vancouver where the Rosewood Georgia Hotel will take you back to the golden days of the 1920’s with its gilded decor. You’ll have two days to explore; high on our list is to wander around Gastown, the city’s oldest neighbourhood and the fourth chicest spot in the world. A trip to Vancouver wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the urban oasis that is Stanley Park or to Granville Island where you can discover the gourmet delights of the public market.
TRAILS AND WHALES IN TOFINO
For the final four nights of your Canadian adventure, you’ll be staying in the incredible Clayoquot Wilderness Resort, in a remote spot of Vancouver Island near Tofino. Spend days and cosy evenings in one of their gorgeous boutique tents enjoying one of the world’s best eco-safari spots perched on the banks of the Bedwell River. Mother Nature rules supreme here so spend the days on the lookout for the black bears and majestic whales who call this area home. This is truly one of our favourite lodges in the entire of North America and one of the most indulgent ends to a truly fantastic itinerary.
