Les Sources de Caudalie

Do you believe in the idea that eating good food and drinking even better wine is conducive to good health? We do too – and so does Les Sources de Caudalie for that matter. Inspired by the ‘French Paradox’, that indulgence leads to wellbeing, and situated grandly among the vineyards of Château Smith Haut Lafitte just outside Bordeaux, you’re in for one sumptuous getaway. Sample fine wines in a tasting session in the charming Tour de la Degustation or cook world-famous cuisine in a class led by the hotel’s two time Michelin star winning chef and experience the Paradox for yourself.

Location

Only a 25 minute drive from Bordeaux Airport, Les Sources de Caudalie stands in the vineyards of Château Smith Haut Lafitte along the Garonne River and is perfectly situated for a myriad of activities. The obvious, of course, being wine tasting, with vineyards stretching endlessly into the distance. If you’re on the hunt for a bit of history and culture though, the medieval village of Saint-Emilion, a UNESCO world heritage site, is just 45 minutes away. A relaxing beach day more up your street? Arcachon Bay, less than an hour’s drive, is the ideal spot for boat trips and oyster tasting in the sun.

Your room

The 40 rooms and 21 suites at Les Sources de Caudlie are spread over six cottages and all reflect the region’s rich culture through their individual names and decor. There is something for everyone, with design pieces giving some rooms a family ambiance, and a collaboration with bridal designer Delphine Manivet giving others unparalleled romantic charm. Whether you want to watch the sunrise over the lake or the sunset over the vineyards these rooms have balconies or terraces ideal for either.

Why we like it

Staying at Les Sources de Caudalie is a true sensory experience. Chef Nicolas Masse will leave your taste buds tingling in his two Michelin star restaurant, La Grand’ Vigne, as you sample delicious ingredients sourced from the hotel’s own vegetable garden. However, it is not only the kitchens at Les Sources which create masterpieces. We particularly love how strolls through the surrounding vineyards are enriched by stunning outdoor contemporary art pieces which transform the area into an open sky museum. Les Sources de Caudalie balances sustainability with innovation, and authenticity with modernity to create something quite spectacular that makes for the perfect destination for any foodie looking for a romantic getaway.
