Casa Angelina, Amalfi Coast
Casa Angelina remains one of the best-kept secrets of the Amalfi Coast; a design hotel that blends subtly into the sheer cliffs and offers unparalleled views of sea, mountains and pure azure sky. The whiter than white décor of the 39 exquisite rooms enhances the vast blue and its perfect cliff-face positioning makes Casa Angelina a serene little suntrap. Art aficionados will love the collection of Murano glass sculptures and hand-picked paintings that are scattered around the hotel, eluding to the stylish home-away-from-home atmosphere. Simply put, it’s a gem; a very special hideaway in a part of the world that we know well, yet it still impresses every time we visit.
Location
Casa Angelina is right at the heart of the Amalfi Coast, delicately perched on the cliff face of the picturesque town of Praiano. Equidistant from Amalfi and Positano, and just a short drive to the effortlessly chic village of Ravello, you couldn’t be more in the centre of the action. Saunter down the coastline stopping off at secluded coves, sip on a glass of prosecco at one of the beachside bars in Vivaro and Fioriere, or venture out to the ancient Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Whatever your mood, the options for how to spend your time here are endless.
Your room
Each of the 39 rooms at Casa Angelina is entirely white and serves to highlight the deep blue of the ocean; visible from just about anywhere in your stylish bedroom. There’s an incredibly elegant atmosphere throughout, accented with inventive pieces of contemporary art, crisp white linen and every mod-con imaginable from iPods to flat-screen TVs.
Why we like it
This place has us floating on cloud nine, with its unbelievably crisp decor and peaceful views. Whilst staying at the hotel make sure to enjoy a meal at the fine dining restaurant Un Piano nel Cielo, where Italian cuisine is inventively whipped up by the team of artful chefs. We loved the local take on sushi; Neapolitan sushi, a delicious fusion of local flavours and fresh tuna, served up in a delicate martini glass.
