Colca Lodge Spa & Hot Springs, Colca Valley
Adventure up into the Andes and experience the natural wonder of the Colca Valley by staying at the charming, eco-friendly Colca Lodge, which features 45 rooms. Romantically remote with spectacular valley views, the Colca Lodge showcases stone and adobe walls under thatched roofs and blends in beautifully with its natural surroundings. An ideal mountain retreat, the Colca Lodge fits almost every holiday need, from being jam-packed with open-air activities to its exceptional eco-spa all within a region that is just steeped in pre-Inca history and culture.
Location
Sat a scenic five hours’ drive from Arequipa’s International airport, nestled alongside a riverbank in the mountains on the outskirts of the tiny Yanque village, the Colca Lodge is reached via a beautiful journey through the Peruvian countryside. Beyond exploring the endless, pre-Inca terraces and ruins, notably the Uyo Uyo settlement, you’ll pass through the eye-opening Colca Canyon – one of the planet’s deepest gorges and the mighty condor’s favourite hub.
Your Room
Using mostly quintessential mud brick walls painted over in typical Peruvian colours, rooms all radiate a warm and welcoming, somewhat rustic feel. Aside from top-notch interior comfort, most rooms are adjoined to terraces, so you’ll lounge out and delight in the incredible vistas of the Colca Valley. One suite even offers a Jacuzzi, so you can enjoy the Andean scenery in complete luxury.
Why we like it
Take a day trip hiking, horse-riding or cycling up and down this ancient agricultural land and explore this whimsical region’s colcas (age-old seed granaries). For a more relaxing alternative, you’ll find the height of harmony at the Colca Lodge’s eco-spa, which boasts unique, natural hot springs, rich in lithium. We love spending a night simply stargazing from the thermal baths with a glass of traditional Peruvian ‘Pisco’, following a one-of-a-kind, tasting experience at the Las Pocitas barbecue bar.
