Safari. In Swahili, it means “long journey.” And with these luxury safari tours, we’ve brought safari back to its adventurous and thrill-seeking origins.
After all, we work from the assumption that a safari will mean many things to many different people. We’re not prescriptive or restrictive. No, we’re here to help you design your perfect wilderness escape, whether you want to trek to the gorillas of Rwanda or witness the spectacle of the Great Migration. Tell us your obsessions, your dreams and your passions, and we’ll do the rest.
Ultimately, these are truly tailored trips executed with flair, fun and flourish. Nothing is presumed. Least of all you.
Throughout, we prefer lodges and African safari destinations with more restrictive access and smaller overall numbers of guests – ensuring a greater sense of privacy, like you’re the only people on earth.
On safari, the accommodation is integral to the overall experience – particularly when your accommodation gets you up close and personal with the animal kingdom. That’s why we’ve listed the main types of accommodation you can experience during your African adventure and from these we’re confident that one or a combination will suit you.
What’s more, we have incredibly close relationships with every property we use. We’ve stayed there. We love it. And we know you’ll love it too.
Cottar’s safari camp in Kenya is a stylish, art-deco inspired institution serving up a true taste of regal charm. 7,000 ha of arrestingly beautiful landscape. Pop-up bush baths. Fine wines and pan-African cuisine. In a word: elegant.
Welcome to Bwindi Lodge. Here, bandas sit looking out over verdant forest, a central fireplace invites you to swap stories with other travellers, a local bar mixes killer cocktails – and tracking mountain gorillas is the order of the day. In a word: epic.
Sanctuary Baines Camp, Botswana
Botswana has some of the clearest night skies in the world. At Sanctuary Baines Camp, you’ll be right in the heart of the vast Okavango Delta. A pioneer of sustainability as well as luxurious safari camp, your days and nights will be filled with drama. In a word: breathtaking.
Choosing a tented camp is about staying in locations inaccessible by traditional means – and doing so with elegance and style. In Namibia, there’s amazing Hoanib Camp, located among the surreal, mountainous landscapes of Kaokoland and its local populations of giraffe. In a word: dramatic.
Safari lodges are perhaps the most iconic places to rest your head. These include the adored Angama Mara, Kenya, nestled high on the overlook of the Great Rift Valley. Serene, ludicrously luxurious, and incredibly inviting. In a word: unmissable.
The Farmstead at Royal Malewane, South Africa
Great for groups, private farmsteads are the perfect way to blend the wilderness with the spirit of a more traditional hotel. Exclusive, intimate, and with exceptional facilities. We love the welcoming firepits, adventurous kitchen and airy rooms of The Farmstead at Royal Malewane, South Africa. In a word: impeccable.
From groups of three to entire clans, a family safari is exciting – but a lot of work to research. That why we’ll do all the heavy lifting and design your safari around the size and needs of your family, while getting a grip on all the planning, details and logistics. Tailoring your destination to the needs, ages and size of your group, while suggesting an itinerary keeps everyone happy.

We may be biased, but we truly believe nothing beats a safari honeymoon. These are just some of our favourites:
Africa is a vast continent, from rolling savannah and tropical islands to snow-capped mountains and moon-like deserts. So, don’t forget to ask us about these more unusual safari destinations.
We particularly recommend:
A fly-in safari typically means you will transfer between camps by helicopter or bush plane. These safaris maximise the time spent on safari, as you don’t need to worry about the long, windy and often uncomfortable roads taken when driving.
Helicopter transfers or ‘flips’ can mean you take to the skies and soar above some of the world’s most stunning natural landscapes. This is a great way to get a sense of the scale and drama of Africa, while also taking in the million-hoofed scale of the Great Migration. We love the route from Namibia’s Skeleton Coast to Serra Cafema, framed by a wide river and hazy, round-shouldered mountains.
If safari is about encountering animals in the wild, then it’s also true that there’s no single way to ‘do’ a safari. From river pack rafting to hot air balloon, there exists a world of options to choose from. Stick with one or mix and match to your heart’s content.
